DIMAPUR — The women and anti-sexual harassment cell of MGM College, Dimapur organised a ‘Self-defence class’ for female students at the college auditorium on August 21.

In a press release, the college informed that the event was conducted with an aim to raise awareness about the importance of empowering women through self-defense in today’s challenging society.

The self-defence class was led by Krishna, a 2024 Nagaland Olympic bronze medalist and the 2024 Dimapur District Taekwondo Championship gold medalist, along with three other skilled instructors.

“They demonstrated various effective techniques to help the students respond to vulnerable situations. Female students from all semesters actively participated, gaining hands-on experience in different self-defence techniques,” it stated.

The event concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Sangeeta, a committee member of the women and anti-sexual harassment cell. The session proved to be highly educational and a valuable learning experience for all participants.

Earlier, the session began with an invocation by Alovika, a 5th semester student, followed by a welcome address from Loreni, the convenor of the women and anti-sexual harassment cell.
