Dimapur, Oct. 19 (EMN): In view of no positive response from the state government on its demand despite the three months’ period given to resolve the issue about to expire soon, the Joint Action Committee (Workers Union & Pensioners Union) of Nagaland Pulp & Paper Company Limited (NPPCL) has decided to hold a general meeting with all its members on November 9 at Main Gate Complex NPPCL, in Tzüdikong town.

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) stated in a press release that it had put its proposed August 12 bandh/blocked on hold following a meeting with the officials, including Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner and civil society organizations.

It said the government had requested to put the proposed agitation in abeyance by promising to take all possible steps to resolve the issue, following which a period of three months was granted.

Citing no positive sign from the state government over the past few months, the JAC said it has been compelled to make a decision to decide on further course of action. It went on to request all the aggrieved employees of NPPCL (retired and existing) to reach the Tzüdikong town at least a day ahead of the meeting on November 9.
