Dimapur, April 25 (EMN): The first sunny day since the tournament began, eight teams locked horns to book their respective berths for the quarter finals already knocking at the door now. In the pre-quarter finals this morning, the first match saw a battle of skills between defending champions Tsiepama Youth Organisation and a purely church youth team, BKK TBCM, which eventually saw Tseipama Youth Organisation triumph over BKK TBCM 5-3. The second match at 8:30am had, as fate would have it, both the teams from Kuki club as KYC ‘A’ and KYC ‘B’ who fought it out tooth and nail to secure a place in the upcoming round this week. Amid deafening cheers from the supporters, the match went in favour of KYC ‘B’ with a clean sweep of 5-0.
The afternoon matches went into play even as the mercury soared above 31’C and the third match of the day had MVYO vs Zoungam FC. As though this year’s edition is touted to be the year of goals, spirited MVYO players randomly found the goal net to be through with a comfortable 7-1 win. By the time the fourth match progressed, the stadium too became packed and roars of joy began to echo as a strong Winfield FC, Medziphema, took on another promising team, Young Generation, Old Piphema. The match however, saw goals being chipped in from only one team and as the last whistle went off, Winfield FC had already trounced their opponent 4-0.
