Maradona cancels Nagaland trip

Kohima, Dec. 12: Football legend, Diego Maradona who was scheduled to arrive in Nagaland by December 12 on the invitation of the North East for Child Rights (NECR), has supposedly cancelled his trip due to unknown reasons, according to North East Today.
According to the scheduled programme, Maradona was to witness the exhibition football match of Under 16 ‘CM Cup’ on December 12 at Khuochiezie local ground Kohima.
Earlier, the state government had also directed several departments to make necessary arrangements during the visit. The chief minister was also scheduled to host dinner for Maradona on December 11 or 12. He was also scheduled to visit Khonoma village.However, sources informed that the trip was cancelled even as his fans hope that the football legend would reschedule his visit to Nagaland.
Fans hoped that with the arrival of Diego Maradona on Naga soil will be a life time opportunity for Naga Football in many aspects. Nagas love football though the love and passion have not brought enough success and recognition.
