Manipur violence: Condition of injured persons undergoing treatment in Nagaland stable
KOHIMA — Two more injured persons from Kangpokpi district of Manipur have been admitted in a private hospital in Kohima, taking the total number to eight.
The condition of the patients is ‘stable’, said hospital sources on Saturday.
Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, who is also in-charge of Home department, visited the hospital on Saturday. He said the patients were being taken care of and most of them were out of danger.
He also provided financial assistance to all the eight patients and wished them a speedy recovery.
Terming the situation in Manipur ‘unfortunate’, he appealed for peace to prevail.

Senior Consultant Surgeon at Oking Hospital, Kohima, Dr. Joel Ngully told journalists that the condition of all the eight patients admitted in the hospital is ‘stable’.
‘Initially, six injured persons were brought to the hospital on May 4 and two more patients were admitted on Friday and Saturday,’ he said.
‘When six patients were brought in on Thursday, emergency operations were conducted on four patients. One more patient, who sustained injuries in the liver and kidney, was advised to undergo surgery. But after observation, his condition is stable and is now kept under observation. If the need arises, he will also be operated on,’ the surgeon informed.

Giving further details on the patients’ present condition, he said three are still admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the rest are the male ward and cabin.
‘Initially, their condition was critical but they are keeping well as of now and are kept under observation,’ he added.
All eight patients are from Kangpokpi district of Manipur and a majority of them sustained bullet injuries on the thighs, legs, stomach, and other areas of the body.
