Manipur police makes several arrests in connection with criminal cases

IMPHAL — Manipur police arrested three persons in connection with car theft case on Sunday, a day after the Toyota Fortuner, which was snatched away by unknown miscreants on February 29, was recovered.

The three accused persons in the case are: Yumnam Angousana Singh (26) and Maibam Sanajaoba Singh (26) of Imphal West and Irom James Singh (22) of Imphal East district, according to a press release by the police.

Regarding the abduction of one Kisth Sarunao (55) of Nongdam Tangkhul along with his 4-wheeler vehicle from Imphal East by some unknown miscreants on Saturday, the state police rescued the victim along with the vehicle from Napetpalli area during a search operation.

“One Lukhram Bikram Singh alias Kuthan (40) of Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai was arrested in connection with the case and further remanded into police custody by the Duty Magistrate,” said the police.

Meanwhile, search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.

The police also said that one Anup Kamakar (30) from Assam was arrested along with 11.379 kg of ganja on Sunday and a case has registered in this regard for further investigation.

It went on to inform that 304 vehicles with essential items have been ensured along the NH-02. A total of 133 nakas/checkpoints have been installed in different districts of Manipur and 213 persons have been detained in connection with violations, it added.
