Imphal, July 12 (EMN): Manipur on Monday reported 890 fresh Covid-19 cases out of 6,521 samples tested in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 78,621 with 7,520 active cases, according to a press release of the Health department.
The new positive cases were detected from 15 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (347), Imphal East (153), and Churachandpur (83) districts.
The state also reported total fatalities of 15 Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s death toll to 1287, the release said.
Out of 15 Covid deaths reported from five health centres in the state, Imphal West reported eight deaths, two each from Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Imphal East, and one each from Imphal East, Thoubal and Kakching.
On the other hand, with 590 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases in Manipur reached 69,814, it added. Thus, the recovery rate stands at 88.79 percent.
As of Monday, 9,62,488 persons tested for Covid-19 while 7,03,854 persons were screened at the entry points of the state at the various testing centres in the state, it said.
So far, the state has given 8,76,274 doses of Covid vaccines including 7,81,818 first and 94,456 second doses to the residents.
Till date, the first dose of Covishield vaccine was given to 2,18,669 people between 45-59 years and 1,14,510 people above 60 years besides 3,24,005 people between 18-44 years.
The total number of healthcare workers vaccinated for both the first and second doses of Covishield vaccine is 65,533 while 1,53,557 frontline workers received both doses.
