‘Manipur govt. to construct Mao Market at a cost of Rs. 1-2 cr’

Imphal, Nov. 26 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh inaugurated the Flower Festival-1st Manipur Cherry Blossom Festival held at the Kayinu village at Mao Gate,110 km north of Imphal in Manipur’s Senapati bordering Nagaland on Sunday.
The three-day long festival is being organised with the theme ‘celebrating nature’s abundance’ by the Mao flower growers’ Association and district administration of Senapati in association with the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, Indian Council for Cultural Relation, Government of India, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, government of Manipur, Tourism department, Trade and Commerce and Public Health Engineering department, government of Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Biren announced that the government would construct Mao Market in Imphal at the cost of Rs. 1-2 cr. soon.
He said that a Transit Accommodation costing around of Rs 3 cr. would be constructed at Mao for the doctors and teachers, who are being posted in the region adding that a new transfer policy would be introduced from 1st January, 2018. Under this transfer policy, every employee would be posted at hilly areas for 2 years on rotation basis.
He also announced that a water supply scheme to provide safe drinking water to the people of Mao. Stating the importance of having the office of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Senapati for smooth administration, he stressed that the State government has earmarked a sum of Rs 64 cr. for the proposed.
Informing that around 39 MOUs has been signed between the Government and Business Investors, Entrepreneurs etc. in the recently concluded North East Development summit in Imphal, he claimed people living in the remotest part of the State would be benefited from the MOUs being singed.
Acknowledging Makhel as a historic place of the State, he said that the Government would set up a Heritage Centre at Makhel and Rs 1 cr. would be sanctioned for the purpose for initial stage. He assured that whatever development projects/ schemes announced by the new government would be implemented at any cost.
Assuring that construct permanent structures at Kayinu Village (Flower Festival Site) after discussions with Architects, Mao Council, organisers of Cherry Blosom Festival and Tourism Department he also announced that such festivals in Mao will be a part of the Manipur Sangai Festival from 2018.
Works Minister Th Biswajit in his speech said the Bhartia Infra Projects Limited have been entrusted for the repair and construction of National Highways in the State and the work is going on full swing. He also informed that every villages of the State would be electrified by 2018.
Minister for Forest and Environment Th. Shyamkumar, Minister for Tribal and Hills Affairs N. Kayasii, Minister for Art and Culture L. Jayantakumar Singh, Minister for Agriculture V. Hangkhanlian, Minister for CAF & PD Shri Karam Shyam. Minister for PHED Losii Dikho, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati Shri Athem Muivah, President, Mao Council M Dilli, Director of IBSD Prof Dinabandhu Sahoo, ADC members etc. attended the function wherein Chief Minister along with the dignitaries planted Cherry trees.
