IMPHAL — Manipur Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Friday visited border town, Moreh, which is 110 km south of Imphal in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district and reviewed the security situation there.
He was briefed about the security situation by Brigadier Ved Pal who is the Commander, 26 Sector, Assam Rifles at the Battalion Headquarters of 5 Assam Rifles at Moreh, in the presence of IGP Kabib K, senior officers of both police and Assam Rifles, and other officers.
Governor directed the officers to ensure safety and security of the people
He also met the representatives of civil society organisations, who apprised him about the administrative problems they faced, while the former assured to take all required measures to address their grievances. Later, the governor inspected the Indo-Myanmar border fencing in Moreh town and interacted with the Border Road Task Force officers, who briefed him about the progress of the fencing works.
Acharya also met and distributed relief materials to the internally displaced persons in relief camps opened at Moreh Higher Secondary School and at the Battalion Headquarters of 5 Assam Rifles.
