A man accused of shooting into Lil Wayne‘s tour buses on a Georgia highway has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds said in a news release that Jimmy Carlton Winfrey pleaded guilty Friday to six counts of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.
Winfrey had been indicted on 30 counts. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors won’t pursue the remaining counts.
Superior Court Judge Mary E. Staley also sentenced Winfrey to serve 10 years on probation.
Prosecutors say Winfrey threatened Lil Wayne, whose real name is Wayne Carter, in April at an Atlanta entertainment venue and then left. Prosecutors say Winfrey later fired on two buses in the rapper’s entourage after they left the venue. No one was injured.
