Dimapur, Oct. 18 (EMN): Longleng Town Council (LTC) launched its second phase of cleanliness and hygiene campaign on October 18 by distributing waste collection kits to its sanitary workers, who have been actively involved in the upkeep of solid waste collection through house-to-house collection.

Citing the performance of LTC in the recent Swachh Survekshan 2022, administrator of LTC, Trongdiba Tongpi Sangtam, stressed on the significance of keeping a clean and wholesome environment whether at home, offices or public areas, stated a DIPR report.

Sangtam also pointed out that the town council would continue its effort by focusing on large scale public participation by sensitising the society about the importance of community participation and working together towards making the town a better place to live in, the report stated.

Meanwhile, in order to control and regulate stray dogs, LTC and department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Longleng, in collaboration with the ward authorities, have started compulsory registration and vaccination of dogs.

All dog owners within Longleng town are required to mandatorily register their dogs and ensure their custody within the premises of their respective residence and wards.

Report also stated that dog welfare and monitoring committee has been set up by all the respective wards to monitor and ensure the welfare of dogs within their respective jurisdiction.
