The Longwa Students’ Union (LSU) has hit out at the Development Authority of Nagaland (DAN), for allotting contract work to Ronika and Amos Ezung, the two accused in the on-going child abuse case registered in October 2022 at Dimapur

DIMAPUR — The Longwa Students’ Union (LSU) has hit out at the Development Authority of Nagaland (DAN), for allotting contract work to Ronika and Amos Ezung, the two accused in the on-going child abuse case registered in October 2022 at Dimapur.

The union in a press release reminded that the duo physically assaulted three innocent minors for months, causing them physical and mental harm. It was only when the parents and relatives of the minors forcibly intervened that the dark story of the duo came to light, LSU stated.

“In this regard, a case was registered against them and they were kept in police custody. But in December 2022, the District Court released them on bail. However, the case against them is still in the Court and the next hearing is scheduled in the month of July, 2023,” it stated.

But despite the criminal charge against them, LSU alleged that they were allotted contract works for beautification of Dimapur city and to build Acupressure Park in Super Market area.

“How can we, the Naga people expect such people with cruel intentions to do something good for the community even if it is in the form of a development initiative? This is morally unacceptable. We are of the opinion that the two accused should be in the close watch of the law enforcing authority and should not be entitled to such contract works until justice is delivered to the victims,” the union stated.

The union further stated that the “heinous act” they meted out to the children can never be forgotten and demanded that justice should be delivered at all cost.

Appealing to DAN to immediately withdraw the contract work allotted to the duo, LSU also urged the Naga people to continue rendering their support so that justice is served to the innocent victims at the earliest.
