Dimapur, April 5 (EMN): Longleng district administration, in collaboration with department of Food and Civil Supplies, distributed essential commodities to the people of Shayung ward on April 4 at NST junction, Longleng town.
A DIPR report stated that the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police, Longleng, visited the relief camp and urged the people to maintain social distancing especially while purchasing essential commodities and at ATM booths.
The next phase of distribution will be provided to the medical ward, Shauli ward and Nyanching ward at Lempong junction, it informed.
Meanwhile, the DC has banned unauthorised announcement in the town relating to Covid-19 in the district with immediate effect adding that any announcement in the town with regards to Covid-19 would be done through the department of Information and Publication Relations, DPRO office, Longleng, after authorisation from the district administration.
The DC has also prohibited usage of unauthorised vehicle and volunteers badge on Covid-19 in the district. He stated that badges would be permitted only after it is authorised by the office of the deputy commissioner, Longleng.
In another circular, DC Longleng has directed all the village council to authorise only one village council member along with a driver to purchase essential commodities for the village. The council members should ensure that the list of commodities for purchase (in bulk) are fully furnished in the council’s pad.
It has further restricted authorisation by the village council to individual for personal purposes and warned that the village council would be held responsible for violation and misuse of power.
It also stated that the village guards of Longleng assisted by Nagaland Police have established temporary check post at Dikhu River bordering to Mokokchung district on April 3 to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Tangha village, Tamlu Headquarter, the Village Council, Students Union and VGs of Tangha village has sealed the movement of vehicles at Dikhu bridge, it added.
Ration for stranded students
Besides providing essential commodities to the public, Longleng district administration has identified 21 stranded students from various educational institutions under Longleng town and provided free ration and other essential commodities on April 5 at the DC’s office complex.
The food items were given away by the deputy commissioner, Longleng, M Shayung Phom and ADC Longleng, D Robin. The students were stranded following the national lockdown and were undergoing immense hardship as they could not to go back to their respective villages.
The 21 student beneficiaries included nine from Yingli College, two from Vision Vale School, five from GMS Longleng, three from Good Shepherd School and two from GHSS, Longleng.
