MOKOKCHUNG — The lone Lok Sabha MP and president of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), S Supongmeren Jamir, has appealed to the electorates to elect upright leaders in the upcoming urban local bodies in order to usher in development.

Jamir stated this during election rallies for the upcoming urban local bodies held in Mangkolemba, Tuli, Changtongya and Mokokchung on June 19 and 20. In his speeches, Jamir wooed the public to cast their votes in favour of the party candidates stating that Congress party is committed to serving the people with justice and humility.

He said the Congress is sending modest candidates as the party believed that urban local bodies are the foundation to bring about change and betterment in both the state and districts.

Jamir has underlined three core agendas of the Congress party in fighting the municipal and town councils, which included youth empowerment, to sponsor 3-5 educated youth to undergo coaching to prepare for competition exams at centre and state level annually and to establish self help group in each ward to empower women.

He also vowed to bring transformative change, progress and equality to the people if the Congress is given the mandate in the ULB elections.
