KOHIMA — The Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Monday failed to finalise its candidate for the Outer Manipur parliamentary seat, during its meeting held in Kohima.

Secretary General of NPF, Achumbemo Kikon, who is also a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), said that the party officials convened a meeting in Kohima regarding the candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election but could not arrive at a decision.

‘There are four contenders and it’s very difficult to decide,’ Kikon said, adding that the candidate would be finalised within this week.

Meanwhile, reliable sources said that the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Outer Manipur seat, Dr. S Lorho Pfoze, is among the four contenders seeking the party ticket for another term.

Polling for two Parliamentary seats will be held in two phases, with voting in Inner Manipur and parts of Outer Manipur to be done on April 19, while some parts of Outer Manipur will go to polls on April 26 due to the ongoing ethnic conflict in the state.
