Dimapur, Nov. 10 (EMN): The 20th annual sports week of Logos College (LC), Sovima, commenced on November 8 on the theme ‘Press towards the goal’ at the college ground.

Advisor of Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum, Dr. T Lima Jamir, the inaugural guest of the sports meet, in his address underscored the importance of sports, especially in maintaining physical health.

Jamir said studies have shown that exercise increases blood flow to the brain and helps the body build more connections between nerves, leading to increased concentration, enhanced memory, stimulated creativity, and better-developed problem solving skills.

“In short, playing sports helps your brain grow and makes it work better,” he said.

“Besides being fun, sports can help one perform better in school, deal with setbacks, work better with others and increase one’s energy — all of which helps you balance and everything else going on in your life,” he added.
