DIMAPUR — The Linguistic Minority Forum of Nagaland (LMFN) extended its congratulations to all the newly elected councillors following the recent urban local body (ULB) election in Nagaland.

In a press release, Bishnu Bhattacharjee, chairman of LMFN, extended congratulations to Hukheto Yepthomi, the newly elected chairman of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), and to Imlinaro Stephanie Ezung, who was elected as deputy chairman of the DMC.

It stated that it is a joint responsibility of both the people and the newly elected ULB members to work towards the development and progress of Nagaland’s urban areas, and the forum hoped for a future marked by greater ease and happiness.

LMFN also extended gratitude to the chief minister and NDPP for issuing party tickets to two minority women candidates: Priyadarshini Rana from Ward 12 of Kohima Municipal Council and Krishna Mech from East Dimapur Town Council Ward 10. It congratulated Mech on her victory.

Further, the president of LMFN appealed to the chief minister of Nagaland, the elected ULB members, and government authorities to consider the inclusion of non-Naga minorities, who were settled in urban areas prior to statehood.

He urged that non-Naga linguistic minority leaders be appointed as government nominees to contribute their ideas, knowledge, and experience for the all-round development of urban sectors.
