DIMAPUR — A conclave and leaders’ induction programme organised by the Linguistic Minority Forum (LMF) of Nagaland was held on July 28 at the conference hall of The Four Seasons in Dimapur, which was attended by community leaders, LMFN members, and well-wishers.

The meeting was held to discuss the aims and objectives of the forum and to process the induction of selected executive members from the non-Naga minority communities living in Nagaland, according to an update.

Bishnu Bhattacharjee, convenor of the conclave, mentioned that LMFN is a non-profit, non-political social organisation with the objective of preserving and protecting the constitutional rights of minorities living in Nagaland.

In his speech, Kumar Subba from the Gorkha community said that the platform has the potential to be the voice of the minority community in times of need.

Rabinderjit S Paneswar (Punjabi community), Harinder Singh Parmar (Bihari community), Brij Kishor (Bhojpuri community), Kabir Ahmed Choudhury (Muslim community), Sahir Uddin (Assamese community), and Advocate Arun KR Mishra also spoke and expressed their gratitude for the collective efforts of the LMFN founders.

Leaders from various NGOs and individuals shared their viewpoints, extended their good wishes for the success of LMFN, and assured wholehearted support. The assembly affirmed its support for Bishnu Bhattacharjee as chairman of the forum and endorsed the setup of office bearers.

The house also resolved that two members from each non-Naga community would be inducted as community nominated members to address issues related to minority communities and their welfare at the forum, and to escalate these matters to the legal authorities.
