Livingstone Foundation International College holds talk on etiquette
Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): The department of Education, Livingstone Foundation International College, Dimapur organised a special talk on Saturday on the theme, “Etiquette and Social Graces”.
Dr. Maongkala Longchar, Asst.Professor, Dept. of English, Dimapur Government College, was the resource person for the event.
An update form the college said that Longchar spoke on how etiquette plays an important role in making one’s life ‘richer and successful’.
The resource person stated that ‘social grace is an important skill for dealing with people and society which help people navigate politely in social circles. Ideally, the child learns at home emulating the good graces of his parents/guardians. If such behaviours are not modelled at home, the child may pick up some common courtesy in the educational institutions, or even through mingling with the right crowds,’ it read.
She said that ‘it is never too late to learn’ and highlighted some etiquettes which are crucial for students in a formal educational institution, such as behaviors in the classrooms, using time judiciously, showing respect to teachers and friends, maintaining cleanliness, abiding to rules, grooming, and personal hygiene.
She also spoke on respecting elders in all social circles, the need to dress appropriately and basic table manners. Importance on some key etiquettes for teachers were also discussed, such as –to always be prepared to work towards the best interest of the students by being fair and unbiased, not to condone bad behaviours, to keep oneself updated with knowledge and grooming.
The programme was chaired by S Asolunbah of 2nd semester (Education Honours) , welcome address given by Dr. R K Behera, Principal LFIC, and vote of thanks shared by Lambemo Ngulllie of 2nd Semester (Education Honours).
