Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur organized its Annual Sports from 14th October to 16th October 2015. The three day event was observed amidst much fanfare, excitement and activity. The Opening Ceremony was held on 14th October at 9:00 AM with Mr. Andrew Ahoto, the Chairman of the School as the Chief Guest. Mr. Vernon Fernandez and Ms. Sungsangtula were the Masters of Ceremony during the occasion. Mrs. Ani Yepthomi, Junior Section Head initiated the programme with the Invocation Prayer. After the prayer, the School Flag was hoisted by the Chairman, Mr. Andrew Ahoto while Mr. Shyamal Nag, Vice-Principal lighted the Sports Lamp.
This was followed by the March Past Parade by the four houses viz. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The parade was led by Mr. Shikavi Y. of Class-XI. The March Past Salute was taken by the Chief Guest after which he delivered a short speech on the benefits of Sports and Games in a student’s life. He encouraged the students to play with true sportsmanship and to maintain discipline and decorum so that competition takes place in real spirit. And also mentioned to the Students that Certificates may get soiled, Trophies may collect dust but Memories will last forever, so one has to bring out or create the good memories when one has the opportunity. He also advised the Track and Field Event Judges to be fair in their judgement and the House Master and Misses to be competitive and cooperative during the event. Later, Oath Taking for all the House Captains was administered by Mr. Zakir Hussain, Co-Ordinator. The three day event kick started with the solemn declaration of the Sports Week 2015 open by the Chief Guest.
Some of the important athletic events and games that were played during the Sports Week were Marathon Race and Tug-of-War for both boys as well as girls, High Jump, 50 M Race, 100 M Race, 400 M Race, 800 M Race, Relay Race, Shot Put, Sack Race etc
The three day Sports Extravaganza came to a close on 16th October 2015 with the presentation of various prizes by the Chief Guest to the House Masters and Captains including the Champions Trophy to the Champion House which was won by Luke House (Green). The Luke House was also awarded with the coveted Best Disciplined House Award. The Best Marching Contingent Award went to the Mark House (Red). The Annual Sports Week was held this year in a most competitive spirit with all the students and teachers participating enthusiastically with the weather being very pleasant and favourable for the athletes and the judges. The final event to mark the close of the Sports Week was the taking down of the School Flag and handing over to the Chairman of the School.
