Little Star welcomes new batch of students

Dimapur, June 28 (EMN): Little Star Higher Secondary School in Dimapur welcomed the school’s new students for class-XI on June 26.
Kethosituo Sekhose, administrator of the Kohima Municipal Council was chief guest of the event, updates on Wednesday informed.

“Every year the school endeavors to bring young achievers as Judges for the Freshers Day to serve as an inspiration to the students,” a press release from the organisers informed on Wednesday.
The programme’s judges were Medo Putsure, proprietor of the Bambusa Chain of restaurants; Visi Rio, proprietor of Kats Collection, wedding dresses and accessories; Mengu Suokhrie, singer; Therila Thonger, coordinator of the NIAPA; and Moala Vihutuo, coordinator of Star Kids.
The audience was regaled by a stunning display of ethnic wear designed by the girls themselves and choreographed by Miss Mapunungla and Madam Pilano, The judges chose the best ethnic wear and the title of Miss Ethnic went to
In between the main events there were lively performances by Class 12 students and middle school and High school students. The Class 9 students performed an amazing Stick Drama on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which captivated the audience. The drama was taught by Miss Nukshizenla.
Mengu Suokhrie, besides being a judge, also mesmerized the audience by a beautiful rendition of “To God be the Glory,” the updates stated. Besides Miss Fresher, three other titles were awarded. Miss Congeniality was won by Putusenla of class-XIC. Miss Congeniality is chosen by the students themselves basing on the criteria of the most friendly, helpful and academically good student from amongst themselves, the updates stated.
Further, Miss Talent was won by Ngonyu of class-XIA.
The most coveted title of Miss Fresher 2017 went to Masophy of class-XIC. Her poise, confidence and eloquent answers to the questions posed by the judges won their hearts, the updates stated.
Also, Mhajani and Kevinu Kechu were place in the 1st and 2nd runners up positions in that order.
The chief guest of the event, Kethosituo Sekhose, praised the performances and expressed delight at the way the school had grown from a two room school to its present size today. He said that after Fresher’s Day, the students would be no longer newcomers but part of the family. ‘In life there will always be struggles to overcome but if we learn how to say the right things at the right time God will help us overcome our struggles,’ the updates quoted him as having said during the event.
While declaring the winners, Medo Putsure, said that such functions being held in a school is amazing. He praised the calibre of the students as well as the professional management of the function by the Principal and teachers.
‘The stage is a monster to many young people,’ he said. ‘But when this “monster” is conquered, we build confidence and develop self esteem,’ the press release added.
