LHSS win Kiphire district NBSE quartet singing competition

KIPHIRE — Loyola Hr. Sec. School (LHSS) emerged winners of the district level NBSE quartet singing competition held at Loyola Hr. Sec. School campus, Kiphire, on August 17.

Agape Hr. Sec. School and Saramati High School won the second and third positions, respectively. Loyola Hr. Sec. School will now represent Kiphire district at the state level NBSE quartet singing competition.

The special guest of the event, Sentinungba, DHO, Horticulture department, in his address, encouraged students to pursue music as a career and shared his personal journey as a music lover.

Highlighting the importance of perseverance and dedication, he said that his song ‘Raja Mircha’ (King chili) was initially laughed at by friends but was later nominated for the Nagaland Music Award and went on to win the Nagaland Trailblazer Award 2015 and the online Indigenous Artist Hunt at Indihut in 2015.

His others songs such ‘Potato,’ ‘Headhunter’ and ‘Everyday is a Valentine’s Day’ also got nominated for the Nagaland Music Award the same year, he said.

Through his story, Sentinungba conveyed the lesson that one should not give up easily, even when faced with criticisms. He emphasised that music offers a wide range of career paths, including performance, composition, production, education and more.

“Music is a viable and rewarding career choice that offers a world of possibilities…Don’t be afraid to follow your passion and pursue a career in music. With dedication, hard work, and creativity, you can turn your love of music into a fulfilling profession,” he said.

The event, organised by the Kiphire District Private Schools Association (KDPSA), was chaired by KDPSA secretary, Lipichem . The judges were Albert Jingrü, Achumla Jingrü, and Atsoba Sangtam.
