DIMAPUR — A total of 13 Commerce students and four faculty of Livingstone Foundation International College undertook a field trip to sheep famr in Poilwa village under Peren district on September 16.
An update from the college stated that the primary objective behind the educational outing was to provide students with practical insights into animal farming and to explore the farm’s potential as a tourist attraction. It added that students have shown keen interest in sheep farming.
While conversation with the shepherds and dedicated caretakers of the farm, it was revealed that the farm attracts an impressive daily average of 40-50 local visitors. The visitors were charged a reasonable entry fee of INR 30 per person, which serves as a crucial source of income for the farm’s maintenance.
Besides, the farm also operates market that sells organic vegetables and fruits. The market not only contributes to the local economy but also provides a sustainable means of livelihood for the community members involved in farming.
