LFI College organises blood donation camp

The Red Ribbon Club of Livingstone Foundation International (LFI) College, Dimapur, conducted a speech competition and awareness programme followed by a voluntary blood donation camp on February 10.

An update from the college stated that Dr. Nounechutuo Miachieo, pathologist at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) and guest of honour, has stressed on the importance of blood donation and also encouraged people to spread awareness in different ways.

Dr. Miachieo said regular blood donation by a sufficient number of healthy people was needed to ensure that blood is always be available whenever and wherever it is needed.

“Blood – the gift of life- is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person,” he said and appreciated the college for taking the blood donation initiative.

The president of Positive Network of People Living with HIV, Lucy, who attended the programme as special guest, also shared her experiences. Encouraging the gathering not to discriminate HIV positive people, Lucy also dwelled on prevention of HIV.

In the speech competition, Dekhingpi Sangtam secured the first position followed by Kevin and Hinoli V Sumi in the second and third positions respectively.

The programme started with an invocation by Mekhriengunuo, assistant professor of Psychology, followed by various activities and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dipika Agarwal, nodal officer of Red Ribbon Club.

It stated that after the programme, the students headed to the District Hospital, Dimapur, for voluntary blood donation. It informed that a total of 11 donors including the faculty members of the college opted for the voluntary blood donation.
