Dimapur: Students and teachers of Little Flower Higher Secondary School (LFHSS) in Kohima on Thursday held a prayer service for the people of Manipur, which has witnessed ethnic violence since May 3.
The service was held during the school’s morning assembly with the staff and students of classes 5 to 12.
An update from the school informed that the programme began with a solemn prayer led by Loreno Tungoe, member of the Peace Channel Club. It was followed with a short message delivered by Nounesenuo Usou, president of Peace Channel Club.
Report stated Usou spoke on how peace should be brought to the world and spread among people of different nations. She added that peace should be brought in places where there is suffering of humanity and for the people, who are in need of prayers. She further pleaded everyone to practice peace to the world rather than violence in order to live together in unity.
The school’s principal, Sr. Lucy Gangmei, reminded the students that the need of the hour was to pray for the people of Manipur in order to pave the way for peace prevail.
As part of the prayer service, the peace pledge was administered to the students by Vithonguonuo of Class 10.
