DIMAPUR — The Longkhim Division Students’ Union (LDSU) has lent its ‘unwavering support’ to the indefinite school cessation orchestrated by the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC).

In a press statement, LDSU said that it wholeheartedly endorses USSC’s threefold charter of demands, which include immediate cancellation of the transfer of teachers with posts and ensuring equitable distribution of teaching staff; detaching teachers from VIPs (MLAs), DEO, SDEOs and redeployment to their designated places of posting; and redeployment of teachers in shortage in all the mentioned schools.

The union appealed to the concerned department to address matters pertaining to students and to consider and accept the demands aimed at advancing the welfare of the student community at the earliest.

The LDSU also acknowledged the impediments to students’ academic pursuits and daily lives posed by the prolonged educational hiatus. Nonetheless, it said, the gravity of the prevailing issues mandates a collective endeavour to catalyse indispensable reforms within the educational framework.

The union further requested that students endure these inconveniences as they are crucial for their overall progress.

It may be mentioned that the USSC had decided to impose an indefinite closure of all government schools within Sangtam jurisdiction in Kiphire district, Longkhim sub division and Tsithrongse, Sangtamtila and Milrise with effect from September 13.

The USSC had informed this in a letter to the principal director, directorate of School Education, stating that the closure would continue until the concerned authority meets its demands.
