Launching programme of RCC bridge over Dikhu river held in Longleng
DIMAPUR — The launching programme for construction of RCC bridge over Dikhu river along the Longleng – Chuchuyimlang road was held at the bridge point, Mongtikang village under Longleng district on November 8, in the presence of MLA Nuklutoshi representing 22 A/C Arkakong, Mokokchung district, and A Pongshi Phom, MLA of 50 A/C Longleng.
In his address, Nuklutoshi encouraged the gathering not to talk about “different communities or political parties,” but to coordinate together and talk about developmental works which, he said, is more important, a DIPR report stated.
He also said that the people of Longleng are fortunate to have Pongshi as their MLA, as he “loves and works for his people.”
Additionally, he assured that within their tenure, the two hydro projects will be completed and the council road cleared, which will create more job opportunities in the coming days.
With the completion of the RCC bridge project, the spot will become a tourist attraction and generate revenues for local businesses, he added.
A Pongshi said that the idea to implement the project was possible only with the cooperation of Nuklutoshi, who provided support, ideas and logistics.
He also thanked Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for approving the project.
Pongshi pointed out that no developmental work will be possible without proper road connectivity and infrastructure like bridges.
He further urged the residents in the locality to bear with the inconveniences during the time of work, and also lend a helping hand in times of trouble until the work is completed.
Short speeches were also delivered by president of Langpangkong Tsukong Mongtang, N Watitoshi; president of Phom People’s Council YB Angam Phom; EE PWD (RB) Longleng, S Toshi Angh and others.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by chairman of Pongching Village Council.
