Land Resources dept. distribute tools to trained blacksmiths
Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): The department of Land Resources, Kohima district under the PMKSY-WDC distributed blacksmith tools to 38 project villages of batch-V and VI of the district with the theme “Livelihood – a step closer to better living” at the premises of the directorate in Kohima on Wednesday.
Presiding over the function, district project officer Dr. Menuosietuo Tseikha spoke on the scope of earning locally by taking up livelihood activities through innovative ideas. He also highlighted the importance of kitchen gardening in the present situation and encouraged the beneficiaries to take up the same, a DIPR update stated.
Additional Director Panjung Jamir highlighted the activities of the department in other districts and encouraged the beneficiaries to work hard and to improve their standard of living.
In his speech, Director Renben Jami said ‘as long as we live, we need food and farming being an integral part of our life, tools and implements need to be upgraded.’ He encouraged the selected beneficiaries to come up with indigenous style and brands to generate employment and also advised the farmers to go for large scale farming. He further stressed on the need of adopting perma-culture with innovative designs, which the department has been advocating in all the districts.
The programme concluded by handing over the tools to the beneficiaries.
