KVK Mokokchung trains farmers in citrus orchard management
DIMAPUR — Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mokokchung, conducted a training-cum-demonstration on the management of citrus orchards on March 9 at Dibuia village in Mokokchung district under the KSHAMTA project.
According to a DIPR report, speaking on the occasion, the assistant chief technical officer (ACTO) of the division of Agronomy, Imtilemla, discussed nutrient management in citrus. She emphasised the importance of balanced plant nutrition for optimal growth, development, and a successful harvest.
She also highlighted the significance of soil testing in determining soil fertility and identifying nutrient deficiencies
Martha Chakruno, ACTO of the division of Entomology, talked about ‘Integrated pest and disease management in citrus’ in her speech.
During the programme, various management practices such as raking or ploughing the soil, application of bioagents, and applying Bordeaux paste on the tree trunk up to 1m from the ground level with gum during March-April and September-October were discussed and demonstrated to the farmers, along with other management practices.
The programme was attended by 17 citrus farmers from Dibuia village.
