Dimapur, Oct. 29 (EMN): KVK Nagaland University, Lumami, conducted a special Swachtta campaign at Government Middle School in Tichipami village under Suruhoto block of Zunheboto district on October 27.
An update from KVK stated that 76 students were sensitised on cleanliness and were made aware of the importance of clean surrounding. The programme was led by Wapangtoshi Longkumer, chief technical officer (plant protection).
It stated that NCIPM, a ICAR sponsored programme, was also conducted where Wapangtoshi Longkumer spoke on the importance of winter vegetable crops and management of insect pest. It stated that a total of 12 women farmers were provided with winter vegetable seeds and insect traps.
Training and demonstration on natural farming was conducted by Sentimenla, assistant chief technical officer (soil science), where importance on the use of Jeevamrut and Bijamrita was disseminated. After the training, winter vegetable seeds and raw materials for organic manure preparation were also distributed to 35 farmers.
Report added that preparation of Tutti frutti from chow chow, value added products from soybean like soymilk and soynuts were also demonstrated to 35 farmers by Narola Anichari, technical officer (Home Science).
