KVK Longleng trains rural youth in backyard poultry rearing
DIMAPUR — Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Longleng, organised a five-day skill development training programme for rural youth on ‘backyard poultry rearing for income generation’ from September 29 to October 3, at the KVK office at Longleng town.
According to a press release, the training was conducted looking into the potential of poultry farming in Longleng district, and the participants include educated unemployed youths, school dropouts, and school-going students.
During the five-day programme, topics such as scientific housing, chicks, growers, layer management, feeding and disease management, poultry farming economics, practical demonstrations on handling chicks, vaccination, and the use of drinkers and feeders were covered.
Each participant also received chicks, starter feeds, liquid vitamins, a drinker, and a certificate of completion of the training.
Altogether, 20 rural youths from different villages attended the training programme.
