KVK distributes arecanut saplings, poultry chicks at Beisumpuikam, Peren

DIMAPUR — Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nagaland University, Zunheboto, conducted an input distribution programme on Friday, sponsored by ICAR, New Delhi, at Beisumpuikam village, Peren district, with Daniel Meren, additional director and scientist , NIELIT, Dimapur, as the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Meren urged the farmers to join hands to improve their socio-economic conditions by adopting new technologies provided by the KVKs. He stressed the inclusion of scientific technologies and the use of information and communication technology (ICT) tools for crop and livestock production.

He stated that if each and every household in the village adopts technology, the farmers can make it an arecanut village.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia provided an overview of the programme, as well as the need for inputs and participation from all stakeholders in order for the programme to be successful.

Alempenzu, technical officer at NIELIT, Dimapur, delivered a lecture on the use of ICT in agriculture, and D Siugam spoke on behalf of the farmers, thanking the KVK for the inputs. Meren distributed inputs to farmers.

On the occasion, 5,000 arecanut saplings and 2,000 rainbow rooster poultry chicks were distributed.
