Dimapur, April 29 (EMN): Deputy Inspector General of Border and Prisons, Martin Pienyu, today called upon the members of Kudawhi Union Dimapur (KUD) to set exemplary life and be ambassador of peace to fellow Naga citizens. KUD consisted of members from Kohima village residing in Dimapur.

Exhorting the members on the occasion of KUD annual general meeting on April 29 at the residence of V Sekhose, Haralu Colony, Pienyu remarked that people are known through their identity. He said as people from a big village, they should feel fortunate of their identity and work for the betterment of Naga society.

Addressing the members as guest speaker, Pienyu called on the members present at the gathering to retrospect and value their identities and the place from where they originated. He said, “If you do not value and respect your own people and identity, other would have no regard for you either.”

He further asked the members to be ambassadors of peace by living an exemplary life.

Delivering the presidential address, outgoing KUD president V Sekhose said, Kohima villagers were among the pioneers who first settled in Dimapur as history account. Sekhose said, “our forefathers were selfless, broad and open minded” adding they welcomed their brothers from every part of the State who have come settle in Dimapur.

He added that those examples of brotherly love and open mindedness had to be replicated by the present generations and thus set good examples for peaceful co-existence which would in turn reflect the goodness of “our” forefathers.

The general meeting was chaired by former KUD vice president and newly inducted president James K Vizo.

A special number was presented by the womenfolk of the union, while short speeches were made by Balie Khezhie and Nini Sekhose.
