KSCJ hosts workshop on students’ assessment and evaluation
DIMAPUR — The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kohima Science College (A), Jotsoma, organised a state-level workshop on ‘Students’ assessment and evaluation’ on September 2 in the college conference hall.
An update from the college stated that Dr. Bendangyapangla, associate professor at State Council for Technical Education (SCTE), Anish Himb, assistant professor at SCTE and Tepusa Kiso, assistant professor at SCTE, were the resource persons.
Dr. Bendangyapangla spoke on ‘Levels of objectives for educational evaluation.’ With reference to the revised Bloom’s taxonomy (2001), she pointed out that a question paper should consist more of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) rather than lower-order thinking skills (LOTS).
Anisha Himb spoke on ‘Forms of questions,’ wherein she presented various forms of questions such as ‘long answer type test items,’ ‘short answer type test items’ and ‘objective type items.’ She also explained in detail how to set each type of question.
Tepusa Kiso expounded on the ‘Marking scheme.’ It was pointed out that having a marking scheme has advantages such as uniformity of standard in assessing, increased objectivity of scoring, ensuring reliability of scoring and helping teachers to give feedback.
It stated that a total of 85 teachers from 8 colleges attended the workshop.
Dr. Lilongchem Thyug, IQAC coordinator of KSCJ, chaired the workshop and Dr. Samadangla Ao, IQAC member of KSCJ, delivered the vote of thanks.
