Diphu, Aug. 18 (EMN): In continuation of the demonstration over alleged anomalies in land compensation of 4 lane road construction on the NH-36 stretch, the Karbi Students Association (KSA) of Jameson Timung faction of Diphu District Committee (DDC) have come up with stronger allegations against Joint Secretary, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) in charge Competent Authority Land Acquisition (CALA) for 4 lane road construction, Tensing Rongpi and Mandal Tarun Rongpi.

Following a protest on Aug. 17, the KSA has now demanded the KAAC authority to remove Tensing Rongpi from his post and to terminate Tarun Rongpi from the post of Mandal, failing on which, the association will go for road blockade on NH-36.

During a press conference held at District Press Club of Karbi Anglong on Thursday, the president, DDC, Bishnuram Phangcho alleged that Tarun Rongpi has 40 plots of land along the 4-lane of NH -36 stretch which he has grabbed through unfair means from the land owners. Phangcho went on to say that a data shows Rongpi has INR 40 crore collected by taking percentage from genuine land owners and the compensation he got from the ill-gotten land he grabbed from land owners.

He further alleged taking 10 percent were charged by the Management Committee from each genuine land owner from the land compensation.

He also cautioned on who appointed the Management Committee.

“Through this media performance, we want to tell the landowners to stop EM, KAAC, Amarsing Tisso and Joint Secretary Tensing Rongpi from coming to their areas to hold meetings for 10 percent. The whole compensation amount is your money and you don’t need to give any percentage,” Phangcho said.
