Diphu, Oct. 14 (EMN): The Karbi Students’ Association (KSA-Samson Teron Faction) has expressed concern over the notification issued by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) on September 29, announcing that Karbi subject is no longer an elective subject for 2023 HSLC examination.

The notification by SEBA stated that it has instructed all the school heads for changing Karbi (elective) to any other elective subject (as per choice of the students) on or before October 30, 2022.

“We apprise the decision of introducing Karbi language subject as MIL from 2023 HSLC examination by SEBA. However, the problem is that some students opted for Karbi subject as an elective during their Class-IX registration, basically, in session, 2019-20 and 2020-21 had to face difficulties now, in choosing other electives in lieu of Karbi (Elective) in this eleventh hour,” KSA stated.

KSA appealed SEBA to review the matter and give students one more chance to write the Karbi (elective) in the upcoming 2023 HSLC examination in the greater interest of students.
