Konyak Union Kohima celebrates Aoleong Mongu at Kisama

The Konyak Union Kohima celebrated Aoleong Monyu festival at Kisama Naga Heritage village today with Minister for Power, Kipili Sangtam as the chief guest.  The chief guest in his speech said that Nagas are rich in culture with colourful customs with history of head hunting to wisdom. He said, self-trust is the secret of success.
Konyak community celebrate Aoleong Monyu in the first week of April every year after completion of sowing of seeds in the new field and to mark the end of the old year. He said, the foundation of success is only through love, unity and sympathy shown to one another.
Quoting “Work is worship” he said, God wants every man and woman to work and only through hard work the future is determined. He said that Konyak tribe is one of the biggest tribes in Nagaland and called upon them to live in unity for upliftment.
Angami Public Organisation president, Dr. Vilhusa Seleyi graced the occasion as guest of honour. On behalf of the Angami community, he greeted all Konyak people who came to celebrate Aoleong Monyu.
He said, Konyak people are admired by all tribes because of their courage and called upon them to maintain the good qualities inherited from their forefathers. He lauded the Konyak people living in Kohima for showing their love and honour for Angamis.
Minister for Forest, Dr. Nicky Kire, Parliamentary Secretary for Prisons, Er.Picto, MLA, Naiba Konyak, government officials and NGOs also took part in the celebration.
