Dimapur, Feb. 15 (EMN): The Konyak Union (KU) has expressed dismay over the state government’s failure to fulfill its demand for immediate activation of Tiru police station and make it fully operational by December 14, 2021.

In a press communiqué issued on Tuesday, the KU demanded that the Tiru Police station be made fully operational “immediately”.

It also questioned the Home minister over the “un-engineered execution of the construction work of the Police Station at Tiru, non completion of the construction works within stipulated time frame and nonpayment of land compensation to the land owners till date”.

In this regard, it requested the Home minister to immediately set up an enquiry team on the project, immediately book the defaulters and deliver justice to the deprived citizens of the area by March 15. It also demanded that the concerned authority ‘immediately initiate a deal with the concerned land owner with a written assurance on land compensation issues before the deadline.

The union also stated that the December 4 Oting incident exposed law and order failure and ‘insincere attitude of the state government since 2008’. It went on to state that the state government and Home department were partially responsible for the incident that killed 14 innocent youths.

While expressing its resentment over non fulfillment of its demand, the KU expressed hope that the government and the Home department that justice will be delivered before March 15, failing which it said the concerned authority must be held responsible in the event of any action taken up by the union.
