Kohima Super Cup: New Market FC to play against Barak FC in final

Kohima, May 29 (EMN): In less than ten minutes to full-time, New Market FC knocked A Yhome FC out of the ongoing Kohima Super Cup in the semi-final after scoring two late headers at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on Sunday.
Not long after the match began, striker Punuru Nienu of A Yhome FC scored the first goal at the 3rd minute while New Market FC could not score any goal in the first half despite having better possession of the ball, most targets and corners.
Nevertheless, things got better for New Market FC and its fans when Rhitsho Mero headed home the equaliser through a free kick in the 87th minute. Both teams played hard to seal the win and in the process, attracted yellow cards from the referee.
Kevisanyü Peseyie headed home another goal kick from the corner and secured the win for New Market FC.
New Market FC will clash with Barak FC in the final on Tuesday at 5:30 pm.
KPC lift 3rd Xavier Rutsa Memorial Trophy
Kohima Press Club beat Kohima Town Club, organisers of the Kohima Super Cup 2-0 to lift the 3rd edition of Xavier Rutsa Memorial Trophy.
The event was a friendly football exhibition match between the two clubs as a tribute to late Xavier Rutsa, who was one of the founding members of both the clubs.
