Kohima Super Cup: G Sports FC, Sechu FCA through to quarters

Kohima, May 19 (EMN): On the fourth day of the ongoing 4th Kohima Super Cup 2022 at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) Kohima, G Sports FC and Sechu Football Club Academy (Sechu FCA) defeated their respective opponents and made it through to the quarter-finals.
The first match was played between Sechu FCA and United 4 FC, which ended 2-1 in favour of Sechu FCA. Rokovituo Nipu and Nisede Peseyie scored a goal each, while a solitary goal for United 4 FC was scored by Nungsang Jamir through a penalty.
In the afternoon, G Sports FC thrashed the IGS XI with a score line of 8-0.
Temjemwati started the campaign for G Sports FC with a goal in the 6th minute, which was followed by Kekhrieletuo Tsira in the 30th minute and Ratobe Poireng in the 39th minute for the first half.
In the second half, Yhunshalo Kemp scored a goal in the 47th minute, Kekhrieletuo Tsira added another goal in 55th minute, followed by Medoneituo Sekhose, Menguzelie Rutsa and Imlongchaba Chang in 57th, 61st and 85th minutes, securing the quarter-final berth for G Sports FC.
G Sports FC had also fielded a 15-year-old midfielder, Vito Kiho, who happens to be their youngest player, towards the last quarter of the match.
It may be mentioned here that the IGS XI team comprises Indira Gandhi (IG-Kohima) Academy students from boxing, archery, wrestling and taekwondo. Despite starting well, they failed to keep up the tempo and had to accept the loss.
Meanwhile, on Friday (May 20), Pro-D-OG’s FC will take on Magdaline Coaching FC at 11:30 am, while Naga Brothers will play against Aphuyemi FC at 1:30 pm.
The quarter final matches will commence from Saturday (May 21) onwards.
