Kohima, May 28 (EMN): Barak FC on Saturday defeated G-Sports FC to enter the final of the 4th Kohima Super Cup played at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) in Kohima.
Barak FC rode on their luck as they beat G-Sports FC via penalties 5-3 after the match ended in a 3-3 draw.
In the most anticipated semi-final match, Elminhao Kilong Kuki scored the first goal in the 13th minute for Barak FC, which was then equalised in the next minute by Menguzelie Rutsa for G-Sports in the 14th minute.
Winamthiu scored another goal for Barak FC in the 73th minute yet Temjenwati added a goal in the 80th minute for G-Sports FC to make it 2-2 during the stipulated time.
During the extra time, the match was evenly poised as Kekhrieletuo Tsira of G-Sports FC scored but Baoringdao Bodo scored again to equalise the score 3-3 to decide the winner via a penalty shootout.
In the penalty shootout, K Tsira’s shot (G-Sports FC) hit the crossbar as Barak FC’s Baoringdao Bodo scored the winning penalty to make it 5-3 at the end of an intense shootout.
Meanwhile, the second semi-final match will be played on Sunday, wherein A Yhome FC will play against New Market FC at 1:30 pm.
