DIMAPUR — Kohima Sumi Hoho (KSH) celebrated pre-Tuluni festival at the residence of its banker, Old Ministers Hill, Kohima, on July 4 with the participation of members from the Kohima Sumi Officers’ Union (KSOU), Kohima Sumi Totimi Hoho (KSTH), Kohima Sumi Students’ Union (KSSU), NCRC Sumi, SBCK and SABCK.
In his welcoming address, the hoho president, Khevito T Shohe, extended Tuluni greetings and exhorted the gathering that all the Sümi leaders based in Kohima should jointly put in more efforts and strive for the betterment of Sumi community. He also acknowledged the members for their active participation and cooperation in serving the community during his tenure, stated an update from the hoho.
He further urged the Sümis to be ambassador of peace, unity and brotherhood with other Naga communities as a progressive society. He also thanked Y Kikheto Sema and family for the Tuluni feast and contribution towards the community.
In a short speech, Warren Holohon, president of Kohima Sumi Officers’ Union, stated that the Kohima Sumi Hoho lead by its president has tremendously contributed towards the community and expressed his gratitude for organising a common platform to observed Tuluni festival.
“We must serve the community not in words but in deeds and in truth and set a living example to others as shown by the elders,” Holohon said.
He added that it was through the tireless efforts of the present Kohima Sumi Hoho office bearers that the long-awaited and much needed project of Kohima Sumi cemetery could be constructed as well as celebrates the mega Tuluni festival at Kisama Naga Heritage last year.
Report stated that the presidents of Kohima Sumi Totimi Hoho and Kohima Sumi Students’ Union also spoke in the event.
The programme was chaired by the hoho vice president, Vixepu Swu, while an invocation prayer was said by the pastor of SBCK, Khekavi Yeptho, and the pastor of SABCK, Rev. Dr. G Kiyeto Sema, bestowed God’s blessings to the present office bearers of Kohima Sumi Hoho for the successful completion of their tenure.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by its general secretary, Shivito Wotsa, followed with a benediction said by Vibo Sumi, pastor of NCRC Sumi.
