Kohima lifts total lockdown but more areas sealed to contain Covid-19 spread

Kohima, Aug. 7 (EMN): The Kohima district task force (DTF) on Friday decided to lift the total lockdown in Kohima municipal areas from August 8.

The decision was taken on completion of 14-day total lockdown that started from July 25.

The deputy commissioner and chairman of district task force, Gregory Thejawelie, issued an order stating that commercial establishments would be allowed to remain open on all week days (Monday to Saturday) from 7 am to 4 pm.

The order also stated that odd-even system of traffic movement that was earlier issued on July 15 would remain effective, wherein the odd-numbered vehicles would be allowed to ply on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays while the even-numbered vehicles can ply on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Further it was informed that the order would remain in force till August 31.

More areas in Kohima sealed

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner has ordered the sealing of several areas in Kohima in view of the detection of Covid-19 positive cases in Old Ministers Hill, New Ministers Hill, High School Ward, Midland and Kohima village.

In an order issued on August 6, the following areas were declared sealed in order to contain the spread of the disease/infection and for necessary contact tracing:

• Official residence of Dy. Chief Minister (Old Ministers Hill- Ward No. 14)
• Official residence of minister for Health and Family Welfare (Old Ministers Hill- Ward No. 14)
• Official residence of advisor for Food and Civil Supplies (Old Ministers Hill- Ward No. 14)
• Government Quarter No 196, New Ministers Hill (Ward No. 16)
• Private residence of MLA, Ruliezou
• Private residence Phriekhriezou colony, Kohima village
• Private residence, Sepfuzou colony (Ward No. 1) VEMB 190
• Private residence, Lower Midlane (Ward No. 9) H/No 186 near Khiamniungan Baptist Church.

Further, it informed that all movement of persons/vehicles within the sealed areas have been strictly restricted/prohibited.
