DIMAPUR — As part of practical examination for the LL.B final (6th semester) year students, the Kohima Law College (KLC) conducted a moot court at the college auditorium on May 17.
As per Nagaland University (NU) syllabus, 30 marks for practical examination is allotted to LL.B final year, stated an update from the college.
It stated that Kohima Law College conducted three moot courts consisting of cases such as civil, election and criminal (hypothetical cases) under the teacher-in-charge and assistant professor, Kezhokhoto Savi.
Speaking at the programme, Savi stated that ‘Integrity,’ ‘hard working’ and ‘honesty’ are considered to be the three most essential pillars to become a successful lawyer in modern society. He added that the purpose of organising and conducting moot court was to help the law students become a successful lawyer in future.
Savi stated that students learn the good knowledge of legal language, good knowledge of speaking, good knowledge of appearance before the court and good knowledge of common sense and behaviour through the moot court. He explained that moot court is an artificial court which instills confidence in the students to conduct cases in future when they are called upon to do so in their professional life.
Report stated that 62 mooters were divided into two groups comprising 31 each and argued on the points of law. They are required to develop argumental skill and art of preparation and presentation of legal documents.
It further stated that moot court develops professional skill and play a meaningful role in their future life. Moot court is part of Bar Council of India practical papers (clinical education course).
