Kohima gears up for ‘Meri LiFE, Mera Swachh Shehar’ campaign
KOHIMA — In pursuance to the directive of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA), a meeting with ward authorities including women and youth organisations along with SHG was held to work out the modalities under Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) Mission for ‘Meri LiFE, Mera Swachh Shehar’ campaign on May 16 in the office of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC).
A three-week campaign would culminate on June 5 coinciding with World Environment Day, which would be marked with mass cleanliness drives in all the wards and ledge for LiFE drives.
According to KMC, the objective of the campaign was to set up collection centres/ Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) centres for citizens to give used products such as plastic items, old books, used clothes and footwear or any other items, which could be further refurbished, reused or processed at the RRR centres.
The RRR Centre for Ward Nos. 5,6,7,8 and 9, which has been earmarked at Super Market Complex, would be inaugurated on May 20. It mentioned that the RRR centres would be geo-tagged and all information would be uploaded on Meri LiFE portal as well as Swachhatam portal.

It added that an evaluation committee would assess the best performing RRR centre and be awarded on June 5. “After the campaign period, one permanent RRR Centre will be retained,” KMC stated.
