Kohima DPDB discusses on procedures for registration of societies
DIMAPUR — The Kohima district planning and development board (DPDB), during its monthly meeting held on Friday at its hall, deliberated on the procedures for registration of societies in the presence of advisor of School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, and MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso.
After reviewing the minutes of its previous meeting by the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, the members deliberated on the registration of various societies. A DIPR report stated that four out of seven societies proposed for registration were rejected. However, Merhü Welfare Society, Medemer Fund Society and Tamlu Bühü Union Society were considered for registration.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Rhutso emphasised that a society must have a minimum of seven members, representing diverse tribal backgrounds, to ensure inclusivity and advocated for transparency and honesty in assisting marginalised communities.
During discussions on the screening process for society registration, Dr. Yhome proposed the establishment of specific guidelines and criteria to streamline the registration process.
A powerpoint presentation by the Regional Transport Officer, Kohima, on vehicle licensing and registration, it was revealed that 3580 learners licenses and 2747 drivers licenses were issued in the current fiscal year.
Following the powerpoint presentation, the members deliberated on enhancing road safety awareness and simplifying the registration procedures to make them more user-friendly.
The divisional forest officer of Kohima provided insights into the Nagaland Forest Management Project, its implementation process and the livelihood activities of self-help groups (SHGs).
Besides, initiatives such as the National Clean Air Program and the establishment of vertical gardens in Kohima were discussed.
Meanwhile, Dr. Kekhrie stressed on the responsible utilisation of loans, highlighting the need for repayments. He suggested carbon incentivising to villages with significant forest cover and promoting public awareness through documentary productions.
Report further stated that the deputy commissioner has assigned the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to make a powerpoint presentation on the Jal Jeevan Mission in the next DPDB meeting.
