Kohima-Dimapur highway fully reopens after landslide closure
KOHIMA — The National Highway-29, a vital road connecting Kohima and Dimapur, fully reopened to traffic Tuesday morning following a partial closure due to a landslide near Dzüdza Bridge.
The Kohima district administration had previously announced a closure of the highway from August 31 to September 2, as crews worked to clear debris and stabilise the affected area.
As of Tuesday, one-way traffic flow has been restored for all vehicles travelling in both directions, according to Kohima Traffic Police. Motorists were advised to expect delays, given the one-way traffic system along the affected section of the highway.
Although the road has reopened, authorities cautioned that conditions remain unpredictable as debris from the landslide and ongoing road subsidence may necessitate further clearance work.
