Kohima DDMA discusses ways to mitigate Dzüdza landslide
DIMAPUR — An emergency meeting of the Kohima District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) was held on Tuesday in response to a landslide near Dzüdza Bridge on the National Highway-29, which has disrupted traffic flow and the supply of essential commodities.
As per an update from DIPR, Kohima Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Ramnikant, who chaired the meeting, said that an initial assessment of the landslide area had been conducted.
He added that the SDO Civil Sechü-Zubza, along with village authorities and contractor personnel had inspected the upper reaches of the landslide area and submitted a report.
Furthermore, a committee, headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO, DDMA Kohima, Rhosietho Nguori, has been tasked with visiting the site and monitoring the situation. The committee has also been asked to draft a plan to mitigate the occurrence of continuous landslides and submit a report for further action.
The DDMA meeting prioritised the urgent need to restore traffic flow, particularly for trucks carrying essential goods, fuel, and medicine. The possibility of providing assistance to stranded truck drivers was also discussed.
Further, all relevant agencies have been directed to ensure that alternative routes remain accessible to commuters, the update stated.
