In connection with the upcoming Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election 2023, the deputy commissioner and district election officer of Kohima has constituted a district level standing committee (DLSC) to monitor model code of conduct (MCC).
A DIPR report stated that the committee would be led by DC and DEO of Kohima as convenor along with the superintendent of police (SP) of Kohima, SDO (C) Hq. and nodal officer of MCC, all RO/ARO of Kohima district, administrator of KMC, EEM nodal officer, president and general secretary of recognised political parties in Kohima district, president and two representatives of Angami Public Organisation (APO), president and two representatives of Angami Miapfu Mechu Krotho (AMK), president and two representatives of Angami Youth Organisation (AYO), and assistant election officer as members.
The notification stated that the committee would meet from time to time as and when required to discuss issues relating to free, fair and peaceful conduct of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election, 2023. The committee would also ensure that model code of conduct is strictly adhere by all political parties, contesting candidates, government departments and general public from the day the Commission announced the election till the election process ends.
Meanwhile, the first meeting of the committee has been convened on January 20 in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Kohima at 3:30 pm.
