Kohima College launches innovative academic courses
DIMAPUR — Kohima College on Tuesday launched two groundbreaking academic courses namely ‘Naga Indigenous Knowledge System’ and “Communicative English & Creative Writing in English.’
The associate professor Kevinguno Rose, who chaired the launch event, highlighted the college’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities within Nagaland University’s four-year undergraduate programme (FYUGP) curriculum, stated an update from the college.
It stated that the course on ‘Naga Indigenous Knowledge System’ was developed by faculty members including Dr. Kekhrieseno Christina, Dr. Konei Nakhro and Dr. Ketoukhrieü. The course aims to preserve and promote the rich heritage and traditional wisdom of the Naga people, offering students a unique perspective on indigenous practices and cultural knowledge.
It added that Dr. Ziuziu Iheilung and Dr. Neikehienuo Mepfhuo have introduced the ‘Communicative English & Creative Writing in English” course. Designed to enhance students’ language skills and creative expression, the course provides a comprehensive approach to mastering English communication and literary creativity, report stated.
During the programme, the faculty creators of those courses were felicitated for their contributions. The new courses are expected to significantly enrich the array of subjects available to undergraduate students, aligning with the broader objectives of the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUGP) curriculum offered by Nagaland University.
Report further stated that the launch marked a significant step towards diversifying and enhancing academic offerings in the region, providing students with a broader spectrum of learning opportunities and fostering a deeper understanding of both local and global knowledge systems.
